RECAP: Inaugural Conservation Classic 2025
A New Tradition in the Making: The Inaugural Conservation Classic
On August 9, 2025, supporters of The Land Trust for Tennessee gathered at the Nashville Gun Club for a day that combined friendly competition, great food, and a shared commitment to conserving the places that make Tennessee special.
The occasion was our first-ever Conservation Classic sporting clay event, created to bring together outdoor enthusiasts, conservation supporters, and community leaders while raising funds to protect Tennessee’s irreplaceable landscapes and historic sites for future generations.

From the start, the day was filled with energy and camaraderie. Guests kicked off the morning with coffee, breakfast, and time to mingle before heading out to the professionally designed 50-clay course. Every team brought their best aim and plenty of good conversation and sportsmanship to the competition.

After the last clays were shot, participants returned to the clubhouse for a well-earned lunch prepared by Flavor Catering, along with drinks provided by Juniper Green. The afternoon continued with remarks from President & CEO Liz McLaurin, who spoke about the vital role events like the Conservation Classic play in advancing The Land Trust’s mission. Then, it was time to celebrate the winners. The prizes were as follows:
- First Place Team – A table at Once in a Blue Moon, our signature annual fundraiser
- Second Place Team – Four tickets to the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival
- Third Place Team – An ammunition package from Migra Ammunitions and Woodley Co
- Best Individual Shooter – A framed print featuring maps of Tennessee’s irreplaceable land features and landscapes

The Inaugural Conservation Classic was more than just a day of sport. It marked the beginning of a new tradition. We are excited to share that it will return next year, offering another opportunity to gather in support of protecting the open spaces, farms, forests, and historic places that shape our state’s identity.
To everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, or helped make this first event possible: thank you. Your support helps ensure that Tennessee’s most important places will be here for generations to come.
