The Land Trust accepts a conservation easement on the Friends of Warner Parks Hill Tract
On August 25th, The Land Trust for Tennessee accepted a conservation agreement from The Friends of Warner Parks on an extraordinary property in Davidson County: The Hill Tract. This property is 324 acres of forests and fields (with some trees over 200 years old!) containing significant biodiversity and wildlife habitat. The land is located adjacent to the existing Warner park system (between Highway 70 and Highway 100), 9 miles from downtown Nashville. The Friends of Warner Parks intends to transfer this property to Metro parks, which would create a combined park area of almost 3,000 acres! To learn more about this land, visit the Friends of Warner Parks website at http://www.friendsofwarnerparks.com/ .
The conservation agreement will ensure that the forested portion of the land, containing the most advanced trees, will have minimal disturbances and, with the exception of primitive trails and signage, will be a wilderness area for wildlife and Nashvillians alike to enjoy. A restricted set of park purposes will be allowed on the remaining land. The Hill Tract is the seventh conservation agreement on parkland that The Land Trust has accepted over the last 10 years. We are pleased to be a part of the team to help conserve this treasure.
