2007 was a banner year for The Land Trust for Tennessee. Not only did we double the number of acres we protect statewide, we almost doubled the number of total properties protected, welcomed terrific new staff members and expanded our service area into new counties. We now stand poised and ready to enter this new era of land conservation in Tennessee.

Now though, we’d like to take the time to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments.

 In 2007, The Land Trust:
   * Added 3 full-time staff positions to our Land Protection team
    * Completed 52 conservation projects for a total of 14,698 new acres
    * Closed conservation easements in 12 new counties
    * Opened an office in Chattanooga
    * Completed our first major land acquisition, Lost and Champion Coves, on the  Cumberland Plateau
    * Held our most successful Blue Moon ever at Historic Glen Leven

Your Land Trust now protects 32,052 acres across the state that will stay green and open forever. From farm to forest, each of those acres of precious Tennessee land helps clean our air and water, shelter native plant and animals, teach us about our past, and fill our vistas with color and life.

None of this would be possible, however, without the generosity and foresight of our landowners. The magnitude of their gifts will reverberate on our landscape for generations to come.
